A Few of My Favorite Things, Part 1: For Your Dog

Christmas is just around the corner and here is the moment of truth: Do you buy your dog a present? Don’t be embarrassed—I most certainly do! For all of you that do buy your dog a gift, here’s a list of my favorite pet products.

Food Delivery Toys

I love these types of toys because it keeps my dog busy. So often I hear, “my dog has separation anxiety because he tore up the backyard.” Fortunately, a great deal of the time it is not separation anxiety (which many times leads to medication) but boredom. Give
your dog a food delivery toy, and voila, puppy is busy and is getting rewarded for doing so. My favorite products on the market are:

Kong- I throw some wet food in there, mixed with dry food and pop it in the freezer.

When I go to work, I give him the frozen Kong and that equals hours of gnawing and chewing to get the yummy treats out. Kongs are great for dogs that like to chew on things.

Buster Cube- It looks like a large dice. You put your dog’s meal in the cube, toss it on the floor and your dog has to knock, spin, and fling it around to get the food out.

Busy Buddy Tug-a Jug- This is my absolute favorite! It looks like a bottle with a chewable, rubber lid. Blocking the hole that the food comes out of is a knotted rope toy. Your dog must tug on the rope and toss the bottle around to get the food out. Needless to say, when you come home, you will have a tired puppy

Toys

I have a Rottweiler, so he is strong, high energy, and a very intense chewer. These are mine (and his) favorite toys.

Tuffies- These are cute, durable soft toys. They come in a variety of sizes so that all dogs can enjoy this wonderful product. Made of four layers of bonded material, it is stuffed with non-toxic fiber and has seven layers of stitching for added durability. Each toy is rated from 6-10, where is 10 is the toughest and according to the packaging, has been tested on tigers. Forget the tiger, my Rottweiler has a Tuff Scale 10 Octopus and that thing is still in one piece after nearly 6 months!

Chuck-it- I am no Randy Johnson, so can’t throw the tennis ball over and over again. Problem solved with this amazing toy! The launchers are available is sizes ranging from 12 inches to 25 inches. The longer the launcher, the farther the ball flies. Use a regular tennis ball or one of the specialty balls. This is hours of fun for both you and your dog.

Food and Treats

These are some of the great companies that I have had the pleasure of working with. I love their products because it is premium food, with no fillers, by-products, nor artificial colors, flavors, or chemical preservatives.

Blue Buffalo- I feed my dogs the Blue Life Protection Formula and they love it. This company also has a variety of treats available. After giving them the Dental Chews, I noticed the tartar build-up on their teeth had been reduced.

Solid Gold- A solid, premium dog food. The company has a variety of food for every type and age of dog.

Blue Dog Bakery- These dog treats are made with 100% pure and natural ingredients. The company uses no animal by-products, artificial flavors, or preservatives. These treats smell so yummy, that you might tempted to try one!

Lastly, this might be for you, but your dog will definitely benefit from it. Petedge is an amazing company with pet products at a discounted price. This website has everything from toys and treats, to beds, clothes, leashes and collars. It’s hard to close the website
without a full shopping cart.

Stay tuned, as I will have more of my favorite things for dog lovers!
